Very few cars earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick. In fact for the 2007 model year; only 13 cars were rewarded with this illustrious award. Well for 2008 more car makers have caught on to what the IIHS looks for in an award winner, and Infiniti is one of those car manufacturers who now have one of the safest vehicles on the road.
The IIHS test are not limited to crash test only. They also take 
into account a couple of other safety criteria that must be met. One of these is that each vehicle must have Electronic Stability Control. Cars equipped with ESC significantly reduce the risk of a crash. On an SUV; a feature like Vehicle Dynamic Control (what ESC is called on the EX35), can reduce the risk of a fatal single vehicle crash by 50% and a roll-over by 80% according to IIHS.
